SCAPA News and Events
Please join us for the 2022 SCAPA Winter Conference & Trade Show on February 9-10, 2022. We are excited to be able to gather in-person once again at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. We will kick off the conference with the SCAPA Trade Show Reception, on Wednesday, February 9, followed by a full agenda on February 10. Registration is now open for attendees and sponsors.
Please note: Approaching Deadlines! Early bird pricing and sponsor/exhibitor deadline, January 7 and hotel room block deadline, January 9! Partners in Quality (PIQ) is a partnership program between SCAPA's Producer Members and the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), typically held annually in the winter. SCAPA's members will co-host the seven Partner in Quality Meetings in SCDOT districts throughout the state.
Earlier this month, SCAPA was able to participate in the 7th Annual APWA/ASCE Upstate Joint Conference in Greenville. The full-day event was chock-full of infrastructure presentations and panels, discussing topics such as roads, bridges, workforce development, supply chain, and funding.
SCAPA Executive Director Jayson Jordan and Technical Director Kimberly Lyons attended the ACEC-SC on December 7. They had a booth at the event, which the two used to promote the importance and benefits of using asphalt on South Carolina roads. They also promoted the APA's Performance for a Lifetime and PAVEXpress. There were 734 attendees at the conference, which provided a great platform. Check out pictures from the event here.

The Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) and the accompanying AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design software have been developed to replace the empirical AASHTO Pavement Design Guides. The MEPDG represents a quantum leap forward from the empirical pavement design procedures. In the following sections, the MEPDG and local calibration methodologies are briefly discussed, followed by case studies and results of sensitivity analyses.
