>>SPFA Extends Its Condolences to the Friends and Family of Trudie Reed

PFA would like to extends its condolences to the friends and family of Trudie Reed, who passed away on April 25, 2016. Trudie ran and owned Foam Materials & Equipment in St. Louis. MO since 1979 and was the wife and partner of Bill Reed the owner of Coatings Application and Waterproofing who is one of the early board members in UFCA and a long time industry leader and SPFA member. She will be truly missed.

Seven addenda to ANSI/ASHRAE/ICC/USGBC/IES Standard 189.1-2014 (open through May 8th)
Two addenda to ANSI/ASHRAE/ICC/USGBC/IES Standard 189.1-2014 (open through May 23rd)
 
 
>>ASHRAE, AIA Look to Future of Energy Efficiency with Signing of New MOU

Building on past outreach, ASHRAE and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, committing them to working together in a variety of built environment areas. The MOU recently was signed by ASHRAE President David Underwood and AIA President Russ Davidson. The agreement states the two organizations will work jointly in areas related to development of young professionals, advocacy and public outreach, publications, education, technical activities and research.
 
>>Safer Choice Partner of the Year Award Winners 2016

On May 9, 2016, EPA will recognize 24 organizations at the Partner of the Year Awards Ceremony for advancing the goal of chemical safety through exemplary participation in or promotion of Safer Choice, which helps consumers, businesses, and purchasers find products that perform well and are safer for human health and the environment.
 

>>National Safety Stand-Down Takes Place May 2-6

The 2016 National Fall Prevention Stand-Down is slated to take place May 2-6. This is the third annual Stand-Down, which is a nationwide effort to remind and educate employers and workers in the construction industry of the serious dangers of falls - the cause of the highest number of industry deaths in the construction industry. >>EPA Takes Action to Reduce Exposure to TCE in Art and Crafts Spray Fixatives

After the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) assessment of trichloroethylene or TCE showed risk, the sole manufacturer of a fixative product using TCE voluntarily withdrew it from the marketplace. The EPA is now taking action to ensure no other manufacturers including importers enter the marketplace before EPA has the opportunity to prohibit or limit these uses.
