According to the report, the global spray polyurethane foam marketwas valued at USD 1.30 billion in 2014 and is anticipated to reach USD 1.90 billion by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 7% between 2014 and 2020. In terms of volume, the global spray polyurethane foam market stood at 530 kilo tons in 2014.

Honeywell announced it has signed an agreement to acquire privately held, supply chain and warehouse automation leader Intelligrated for $1.5 billion from a company backed by the Permira funds. The purchase price translates to approximately 12 times Intelligrated's estimated 2016 earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA). The company's 2016 sales are estimated to be approximately $900 million.

The World Green Building Council has today launched a groundbreaking new project which aims to ensure that all buildings are "net zero" by 2050, to help deliver on the ambition of the Paris Agreement and tackle climate change. Advancing Net Zero will see WorldGBC and Green Building Councils in countries with some of the biggest projected growth in building roll out net zero building certification and training so that these highly efficient buildings become commonplace over the next 35 years.

ASHRAE has installed new officers and directors for 2016-17 at its Annual Meeting held in St. Louis June 25-29. The new president is Timothy G. Wentz, P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, HBDP, associate professor, University of Nebraska – Lincoln. As ASHRAE’s president, Wentz chairs the Society’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee.  His theme, Adapt Today to Shape Tomorrow, is based on the goal in the Society’s Strategic Plan to adapt. Wentz relates this goal to his personal history of moving from a slide rule in his early college days to a hand calculator and now a computer or smartphone as an example of the challenges and opportunities inherent in adapting to new technology.

ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, recently released a new version of BACnet Standard 135. This update reflects major steps in advancing BACnet for the future information technology landscape. The purpose of BACnet Standard 135 is to define data communication services and protocols for computer equipment used for monitoring and control of HVAC&R and other building systems, allowing for the interoperability of such equipment and facilitating the use of digital control technology in buildings.
 
>>Global Chemicals Production Up Slightly In May, Following Four Months of Stable Activity

The American Chemistry Council’s Global Chemical Production Regional Index (Global CPRI) shows that the second quarter continued on a soft note, with the headline index rising 0.1 percent on a three-month moving average (3MMA) basis in May. This follows four months of stable activity but a fairly strong fourth quarter. During May, chemical production increased in North America, Central & Eastern Europe and Africa & the Middle East, while activity was flat in Western Europe and Asia-Pacific, and fell in Latin America. The Global CPRI was up 1.9 percent year-over-year (Y/Y) on a 3MMA basis and stood at 108.3 percent of its average 2012 levels in May.
