In 2013, the SPFA Safety Committee developed two OSHA-compliant, bilingual jobsite safety signs. These included a Do Not Enter sign and a Fire Hazard sign. The Do Not Enter sign should be placed at all entry points of the spray zone to provide adequate warning of the need for proper PPE. The Fire Hazard sign should be placed throughout any area interior area with exposed SPF not protected with a fire protective covering or coating, to prevent ignition of exposed foam during construction.
In 2016, two more OSHA-compliant jobsite safety signs were added. The first is the No Storage sign. This sign should be prominently and permanently placed in all attics and crawlspace areas where the foam is not covered with an approved 15-minute thermal barrier. It warns building owners that no storage is permitted in these areas. The second new sign for Permit Confined Spaces, should be placed at the entry point of all Construction Confined Spaces, per the new OSHA regulations.
All four signs are provided as a color PDF and formatted for 8.5 x11 paper. If a larger sign is needed, they can be scaled by changing the printer settings. A single PDF file containing all four signs can be downloaded from the SPFA Members Only website.

Join Your Industry Partners in Making This SuccessfulThe SPFA PCP Field Exam Marketing Working Group has launched the Scholarship Drive for Field Exams. The goal is to make Field Exams Free for those who take them at the Sprayfoam 2017 Convention & Expo in Palm Springs, CA. The Field Exams will be held on Sunday-Monday, January 29-30, 2017. The funds from this campaign will be added to the Sig Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund for Field Exams which was established at Sprayfoam 2016. Since Sig, a Past President of SPFA, was instrumental in launching the first field exams held at an SPFA convention - it is fitting that we return to Palm Springs where he headed up the first Field Exams ever held at a Sprayfoam convention. In his memory, we'll offer scholarships to all SPF contractors so they can meet the PCP certification requirements to become certified SPF professionals! Like last year, the cost of the field exams will be reduced through donations to the scholarship fund. These ten companies have already signed up to be sponsors of the Scholarship Fund. SPFA confirmed plans for the Field Exams to be held during Spray Foam 2017. The Field Exams will be held in the parking lot adjacent to the Renaissance Hotel/Palm Springs Convention Center. This location makes it convenient for Field Exam participants as well as convention attendees. Like last year, we will offer tours of the Field Exams giving visibility to the Field Exam sponsors and showing PCP participants what to expect in a Field Exam. Last year we had record breaking participation in the Field Exams and we need your help to make 2017 equally successful!

SPFA PCP frequently gets phone calls from frantic contractors wanting to know "How quickly can I become certified by the SPFA PCP?" This usually happens when the contractor receives a bid requiring the work to be done by SPFA PCP Certified applicators. Our immediate question is, "Are you certifiable?"
