SPFA News and Announcements
Late last summer, the California Legislature approved AB 2247, which would make CA the first state to have significant reporting requirements for products containing PFAS (poly-fluoroalkyl substances). The CA definition of PFAS includes fluorine-based blowing agents used in closed-cell SPF. AB 2247 included an overly-broad definition of PFAS, which impacts not only SPF, but many other products including non-stick cookware, stain-resistant fabrics and personal care products. Working with the American Chemistry Council, 43 SPFAdvocacy Network members sent emails to their legislators in opposition to the bill and Governor Newsom to request a veto. On Thursday, September 29, Governor Newsom vetoed AB 2247.

The wrath of Hurricane Ian spared Daytona Beach, site of SprayFoam 2023. Our headquarter hotel, Daytona Grande Resort, sustained no damage and is fully functioning. The same is true for the Convention Center. Some employees of both facilities were impacted and flooded out of homes and without power. As a result, some short-term operational response time is slower than usual. We were happy to hear that the hotel is taking care of the families of displaced employees by housing them in the hotel as they work to get their lives back to normal. One thing being impacted are the technical difficulties with the hotel’s registration system. Please be patient while this is resolved and check our website often for updates. The link will be reactivated once it is resolved. Thank you!

Hotel is experiencing temporary technical difficulties with hotel reservations. It is expected to be resolved this week. Please check our website frequently. Once it is corrected, we will re-activate the link. We’ve added more hotel rooms for those arriving early. We still have rooms for the peak convention nights too, but they are filling quickly! Make your reservations SOON to be certain to get into the convention hotel. If you have several people coming from your company or from your family, one way to save money might be a two-bedroom suite. The living room/kitchenette with full fridge and microwave are shared space, including a pullout sofa. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom and both bedrooms connect through the living room. These suites are just $369/night and less expensive than two individual hotel rooms.
