This past April, SSPC formed the SSPC Advisory Council and launched the organizations’ first two councils to provide SSPC guidance in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Latin American (LATAM) protective coatings markets. Additionally the councils will support the SSPC mission in the Asia-Pacific and Latin American markets. Both councils are made up of volunteer SSPC members from the regions, and council representation is based on SSPC membership demographics.
Each council has nine nominated representative members with an elected Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Secretary that service in leadership positions for a period of two years. In order to serve on a advisory council, the individual must be either a SSPC Individual Member (IM) or SSPC Organizational Member Representative (OMR) in good standing, and have their residence or spend over 50 percent of their time living/working in the representative region, with no more than one member from a single country and company. Additionally at the direction and appointment by the SSPC Executive Director, both councils can have up to two Ex Officio members.
To provide demographic balance to the SSPC Advisory Council the structure will be a diverse demographics that reflects the membership and leadership of SSPC. The councils represent the following demographics:
⦁ Facility Owners
⦁ Coating Contractors / Paint Shops
⦁ Coating Manufactures
⦁ Coating Materials Suppliers
⦁ Other Product Suppliers (associated with the coatings industry)
⦁ Service Providers (inspection, specification development, engineering)
⦁ Government (ministries, military, labor)
⦁ Academic (university, college, trade/technical schools)
In its scope and mission, SSPC Advisory Council will support the regional mission and initiatives of SSPC globally. Therefore the activities of both the Asia-Pacific and Latin America will reflect current priorities and organizational objectives in the Asia-Pacific and Latin America markets established by SSPC. Additionally both councils will establish a valuable link and provide relevant market intelligence on the needs of both regions protective coatings market.
