A Look Back on Spring Chapter Events

SSPC Arizona Chapter
Stephen Streich, Linings Manager for the West U.S region of International Paint presented on Concrete Preparation and Repair on Tuesday, April 16 at the Old Spaghetti Factory. On Tuesday June 18, Belen Angulo, Environmental, Safety & Health Manager for Revolution Industrial Companies expounded on best practices to prevent heatstroke. Thank you to Art Ruff for coordinating the SSPC Arizona Chapter events and to the attendees who continue to keep this chapter strong.
 
Gulf Coast Chapter
The Gulf Coast Chapter had a great turnout for the 2019 golf tournament. Special thanks to the staff at The Atchafalaya, hospitality tent sponsors, team sponsors, hole sponsors, SSPC Gulf Coast Chapter committee members. Continue to check the website for upcoming events and meetings.
 
Hampton Roads Chapter
Congratulations to the Hampton Roads Chapter for hosting a memorable golf outing for nearly 150 golfers at the Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk, VA, on June 21. Thank you to Norton Sandblasting Equipment for their generous sponsorship. Courtney Culpepper has continued to grow this event, ensuring a profitable time for the attendees and Hampton Roads Chapter. Midwest Chapter
On May 21, 2019, the Midwest Chapter toured the Wiss Janney Elstner’s inspection facility. The Janney Technical Center is one of the most advanced laboratories and inspection companies. Members learned about advances in evaluation procedures. Thank you to Daniel Hendrick for coordinating, WJE’s Technical Center, and the Midwest Chapter participants for a successful event.
 
The New England Chapter
The New England Chapter toured Beerworks Framingham at their SSPC Spring Meeting, May 9. The presentation, The Benefits of Isocyanate Free Finishes by Norbert Repman III, Corporate Sales Manager from Advanced Polymerics detailed the history, benefits, and concerns regarding this chemical. Thank you to the Chapter Officers, attendees, and sponsor, Advanced Polymerics.
 
North Central Region Chapter
The North Central Region Chapter recently held elections. Congratulations to the following:

Northern California/Northern Nevada Chapter
The Northern California/Northern Nevada Chapter held the Coatings Quiz Show June 20, 2019 which is a game style event that promotes excellent discussion of SSPC standards and best practices. A special thank you to Brian Woodhull and Judy Cheng for developing and moderating the Quiz Show. Appreciation is gladly extended to Julie Zak for coordinating promotions, Chapter Officers and all attendees.
 
Ecuador Chapter
The Ecuador Chapter held a meeting on Saturday, May 18. Thank you to NDT Smart for sponsoring this event. The topic was SSPC Ecuador Chapter and Amazonia Industries: Corrosion and Coatings Inspection on vessels and atmospheric tanks. NDT offers non-destructive inspection training using visual testing, liquid penetrant testing, particles magnetic testing, ultrasonic, and gammagraphy. Their non-destructive testing can be applied to the oil and gas industries, welding evaluation, metal loss of thickness evaluations, and corrosion evaluation. Thank you to the attendees, who are diligently continuing to grow this new chapter.
