Industry Mourns Loss of Steve Pinney

The coatings industry lost one of its longtime supporters and innovators in August with the passing of Stephen G. Pinney, P.E. Steve was the founder of S.G. Pinney & Associates in Port Saint Lucie, FL, well known for their consulting, engineering and inspection services, and who later worked as an independent consultant.
He was an active member of SSPC and served on the Education Committee, the Surface Preparation Committee (working on joint blast cleaning standards with NACE), and several committees related to non-visible contaminants. He was also a frequent speaker and tutorial instructor at SSPC’s annual conference; he was presented with the Technical Achievement Award in 1997 as well as the Coatings Education Award in 1999.
