SSPC Members Give Back
At SSPC Coatings+ 2019, our organization had the opportunity to connect with and give back to a local charity in the Orlando area. This charity is The Adult Literacy League. Their organization works with adults to provide them with the level of education needed to achieve their GED or new careers through various literacy, math, writing, and computer skill related classes. A representative, Adult Literacy Leagues’ CEO Gina Solomon, attended SSPC’s awards luncheon to accept the check on behalf of SSPC Technical Session Speakers. While there, Gina had the opportunity to converse with some industry members she shared a table with.
Fast forward almost a year later, and Gina had reached out to us with a small request that members of our industry helped to solve. Their organization was moving into a new space which they were responsible for painting. PPG Protective and Marine Coatings’ team members, Wayne Smurr and Jennifer Johnson, were quick to respond to this and donate enough paint to cover The Adult Literacy League’s new 3,100 sq. ft. space.
Generous action and genuine connection of a few great teams make wonderful things happen. From Gina, “I don’t know what we’d have done without you and your SSPC team of helpers!” Truly, this is a great representation of the Protective Coatings Industry—treating everyone like family in a thoughtful and caring manner.
