Chairperson, Guillermo Loayza from Tecnocreto Cia. Ltda. of Ecuador and the leadership of the LATAM Advisory Council to SSPC during its February meeting at the Coatings+ 2020 conference in Long Beach, CA, set the councils official priorities for 2020, which included:
- Greater communication and collaboration between SSPC chapters in Latin America. (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama and Peru).
- Council and chapter outreach programs to promote SSPC’s mission and expand membership within LATAM industries, universities, other related organizations and associations.
- Identification of critical SSPC standards for Spanish and Portuguese language translation.
- Elected council representatives to focus on owner specification of SSPC programs and critical industry certifications within their regions.
Since its establishment back in 2017, the LATAM Advisory Council to SSPC has had a major impact on SSPC’s efforts across Latin America. Chairperson Loayza when asked about his vision of the council under his leadership stated, “The council’s first Chairperson, Juan Caballero, and his leadership team got the council moving in the right direction, and it’s up to this current council leadership to focus on the mission and promotion of SSPC.”
