The Gulf Coast Chapter held their first Painter Competition on September 15. Six teams competed and made it a family affair. There were about 70 people in the audience cheering on their family members and coworkers. According to SSPC’s Business Development Specialist, Eric Piotrowski, who coordinated SSPC’s support for the event and attended it as well, it was an epic success. “Matt Reilly and his team did an outstanding job. From soliciting sponsorships to finding a great location, (Wyatt Compressor Service, Inc. Broussard, LA) providing food and games, arranging for the actual competition, registration – the execution was perfect. I am proud to be a small part of this excellent event and look forward to doing it again next year”!
The six teams that participated are: Acadian Contractors, Abbeville, LA: Blast Tech, Broussard, LA; Dynamic Industries, Inc., New Orleans, LA: Johnson’s Elite, Delcambre, LA; Red-Air Services, LLC, Baldwin, LA; and V&H Fabrication and Repairs, Jeanerette, LA. Dynamic Industries, Inc took first place, Acadian Contractors, 2nd place and Blast Tech 3rd place. The winners received a cash prize and scholarship for an in-person, or online SSPC training course. Our congratulations to all of the teams for the excellent demonstration of the skills they work so hard to perfect.
When asked about his experience organizing this event, Matt Reilly commented: “The teams who participated are proud of the work they perform on a daily basis, and this competition allows for them to showcase their skills to family members, friends and colleagues in a fun and family-oriented environment. This event could not have happened without the support of sponsors and volunteers that strive to educate current and future industry leaders of the importance of corrosion control.
SSPC would like to thank the Gulf Coast Chapter officers, team members, judges, sponsors, families and friends, and those that contributed equipment or supplies and the location for their part in the success of this event.
