SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings is pleased to announce the release to two new coating applicator training programs targeted toward aerospace engineers and maintainers.
“Aerospace Engineer Coating Application Training” is designed to familiarize engineers with corrosion mitigation, coating application and coating inspection practices in order to support corrosion prevention and control during the lifecycle of Department of Defense systems. This course will primarily benefit engineers involved in the planning and design of corrosion prevention for military aircraft.
“Aerospace Maintainer Coating Application Training” is designed to familiarize aerospace maintainers with corrosion mitigation and coating application practices in order to support corrosion prevention and control during the sustainment lifecycle of Department of Defense systems. The “Maintainer” course differs from the “Engineer” course in that it is targeted toward service members who perform maintenance and repair work on military aircraft. This course also fulfills the training requirement for the “SSPC Aerospace Coating Application Specialist Program (ACAS)”.
Developed under contract with the DoD Corrosion Policy and Oversight Office (CPO), these courses provide the services with programs that meet the very specialized needs of the civilian engineers who design and engineer corrosion-control products and processes for use by DoD aircraft in the U.S. Navy (USN), U.S. Air Force (USAF), and U.S. Army (USA) operating environments. These state-of-the-art training programs now enable a formal and more effective transfer of knowledge that previously occurred primarily during one-on-one interactions with corrosion subject matter experts. These new training programs are available immediately for implementation to help meet the DoD CPO objective of adequately training everyone who is a part of the corrosion prevention and control workforce.
Under the DoD Corrosion Prevention and Control Program, funding has been provided to train DoD, Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel in both courses. For more information on funding or to register for either course, please contact Jennifer Merck at merck@sspc.org or 412-281-2331 x 2221.
Both courses will be offered at the Coatings+ Conference next month in Orlando, FL. More information can be found by clicking here.
