Latin American Advisory Council Representative Nominations Now Open

SSPC has announced the upcoming nomination and election process for three (3) Council Representative positions.

Currently, those Representative positions open for election during 2019 are filled by:

• Melissa Benavides, NEMESTA (Contractor, Peru)

• Juan Iwamoto, CDV Industrial EIRL (Distributor, Peru)

• Jose Valdes, Altamira & CIA (Contractor, Mexico)

Since its inception in April 2017, the Latin American Advisory Council to SSPC has been providing SSPC and the organizations, staff support and leadership in the mission of SSPC in the Latin America protective coatings market. The council has nine elected representative members with an elected Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Secretary that serve in leadership positions.

Starting on Oct. 1, 2019 there will be an open nomination process until Oct. 31, 2019 for candidates interested in running for election during November 2019. In order to be eligible, a nominated candidate must: 

• Be an SSPC Individual Member (IM), or Organizational Member (OM) in good standing.

• Have residency or spend more than 50% of their time living/working in Latin America.

• There can be no more than one member from a single country and company.

• To provide demographic balance the council is structured with a diversity of demographics that reflects the membership and leadership of SSPC.


The council represents the following demographics:

○ Facility Owners

○ Coating Contractors / Paint Shops

○ Coating Manufacturers

○ Coating Materials Suppliers

○ Other Product Suppliers (associated with the coatings industry)

○ Service Providers (inspection, specification development, engineering)

○ Government (ministries, military, labor)

○ Academic (university, college, trade/technical schools)


In its scope and mission, the Latin American SSPC Advisory Council will support the regional mission and initiatives of SSPC  globally.
