The SSPC Standards Review Committee (SRC) has openings for new members in the consultant/architect/engineer, contractor, material/equipment supplier, and owner/specifier demographic categories, beginning in January 2020.
Qualified candidates for SRC appointment belonging to one of the above demographic categories must maintain active SSPC membership for the duration of their terms. A 3-year history of SSPC membership that includes active participation on at least two SSPC Technical Committees is highly recommended. SRC members are appointed by the SSPC President with the concurrence of the Board of Governors. Appointees will serve 4-year renewable terms. The SRC normally meets in-person during the SSPC Coatings+ conference on the Sunday before the technical program starts and the Thursday afternoon following the final committee meetings. Web meetings may be scheduled during the remainder of the year as necessary.
The Standards Review Committee oversees development and processing of SSPC standards by reviewing both proposals for new standards and standards that have completed committee consensus development, including any unresolved negatives and objections. The SRC then votes either to recommend Board approval of the completed standard or to return the standard to the developing committee for additional work.
SSPC members interested in volunteering for the SSPC Standards Review Committee should submit a brief (1-page) explanation of their qualifications to Aimée Beggs (beggs@sspc.org, or 412-288-6042) before Oct. 31, 2019.
