In order to better serve the SSPC membership, David Tufiño joined the SSPC staff on May 2, 2018 as the Bilingual Member Services Coordinator for Spanish and English. David is originally from Ecuador and is in the process of translating a variety of content and documents including SSPC standards, publications, training courses, certification exams, brochures, membership materials, and online resources.

BCI was revised this spring with input from the DOTs, course instructors, and the SSPC Education Committee. Standards and instrument instructions were updated to current practice, new material about metallizing, and bolted connections.

SSPC’s Train the Trainer class (TTT) was offered for the first time in Canada this quarter for three different companies: Lopes Limited, Morin Industrial, and ETC Industrial Cleaning.
After two days of coursework, their trainers are ready to implement the Trainthepainter (TTP) program to help elevate their company, and SSPC is excited to have them on board!

Late in 2017, SSPC unveiled its new Learning Center as part of an initiative to provide information and content to people interested in the coatings industry.
The Learning Center contains links to blog posts and whitepapers covering topics related to corrosion control, surface preparation methods, and coating selection for a variety of surfaces and structures.

SSPC is accepting nominations from members for the annual Structure Awards. The Awards are given to recognize the work of teams of contractors, designers, end users and coating manufacturers for excellence on protective coatings projects. The Awards will be presented at SSPC's Coatings+ 2019 conference, Feb. 11-14, 2019 at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort, Orlando, FL.

This spring, SSPC’s Board of Governors approved a staff project to help improve the organization internally. We decided on a garden; not only to enhance the beauty of our campus headquarters, but to provide a community wellness activity that would allow staff a different kind of hands-on project.
