Consider Partnering with Your Local NGO

Engagement is what we all strive for.

Work, family, volunteering — there are only so many hours in the day, yet we remain eager to support a meaningful cause. There is a unique opportunity waiting to be utilized: partner with your local non-governmental organization (NGO).

One example of partnering with your local NGO is with the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The RMHC is a home away from home for sick children and their families. Local chapters help families stay close to their children when fallen ill; research shows that children are able to cope and recover from illness better with a family presence.

If your SHRM chapter makes an annual contribution, why not partner with a local organization whose purpose resonates with your constituents. Your local NGO may also house amenities your SHRM chapter finds valuable, such as available community meeting room space. The location is central, meeting space more than likely is available, and members are given the opportunity to grow professionally while being introduced to giving back to the community.
Membership is strengthened with this partnership. Think win/win, and explore a relationship with your local NGO.
