Austin Human Resource Management Association (AHRMA) launched its 2016 Stepping Stones to Enhanced Leadership (SSEL) program on February 3. AHRMA won a Pinnacle Award in 2008 for the SSEL program. The SSEL class of 2016 is the largest class to date, with 27 highly motivated HR professionals from around the Central Texas area.

SSEL is a creative and innovative program designed to meet the development needs of professionals from novice to senior level. The program, though designed for members of the Austin Human Resource Management Association (AHRMA), is also open to non-members.
Participants receive instruction in topics vital to the development of sophisticated leadership skills while earning certification credits (both HRCI and SHRM) and positioning themselves to join a pipeline of emerging leaders for AHRMA’s Board of Directors succession planning. In addition to participating in the 9 Leadership Modules, enrollees are required to volunteer for an AHRMA Committee in order to be recognized as a SSEL Program Graduate.

Employers report that graduates of the program possess enhanced levels of engagement in their organizations as a result of the professional development gained.
"Stepping Stones provided me with an opportunity to expand my HR leadership skills and collaborate with other HR leaders from a variety of industries and experiences. It included topics that were applicable to all levels of HR practitioners including senior level topics such as Strategic Planning, being an HR Activist, and Emotional Intelligence," said Kimberlee Flores, SPHR, SHRM-SCP Director of Human Resources, vcfo.

It also provided an affordable avenue to get recertification credits toward my SPHR and SHRM-SCP. I have already implemented several tools and take-aways from my Stepping Stones classes in my workplace. I would highly recommend this program to individuals looking to expand their professional development."

The 2017 Stepping Stones to Enhanced Leadership Program will begin to accept applications in November, 2016.
