Spring is here, and activities are in full bloom. The Leaders of our Texas SHRM Chapters will be gathering in beautiful El Paso on May 6th for a full day of sharing and a focus on Leadership Development. El Paso SHRM [www.epshrm.org] has pulled out all the stops to plan a great event for us all. Our Global HR Conference committee is well into planning for the September 15 event in Houston [www.texasshrmglobalconference.org], and registrations is open for the July Employment Relations Symposium with our partners at the Texas Association of Business [www.txbiz.org] as well as for the Gulf Coast Symposium on May 11-13 in Houston [www.hrhouston.org/impage/512].
Our local chapters are thriving and offering terrific programming and we are exploring additional Chapters to meet the needs of HR professionals throughout the State. While our Legislature is not in session this year, Texas SRHM is very active in monitoring legislative activities that affect our businesses’ employment practices, and responding accordingly. I hope that in reading through this month’s HR Matters, you will find not only useful information, but opportunities and areas of interest that motivate your involvement in our greater Texas HR community.
