Welcome, RoseCity SHRM!
RoseCity SHRM has been formed to serve HR professionals in Tyler, Texas and the surrounding areas. The organization is an affiliated chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest human resource management association.
According to RoseCity SHRM President, Broderick McGee, SHRM-CP, PHR, "The RoseCity SHRM chapter will serve as an important local voice, providing leadership on key business and workplace issues and helping to improve the practice of human resource management within our membership and within the community."
The next meeting of the RoseCity SHRM will include an induction ceremony. The meeting takes place September 22, 2016. Registration for the event is through Eventbrite. More information about the group can be found at www.rosecityshrm.org or by calling 903-634-ROSE.
HR Houston Kicks Off Its 2016-2017 Seminar Series
HR Houston connected 40-plus HR Professionals to Knowledge, Relationships and Solutions during two recent sell-out workshops – Benefits Bootcamp, offered in partnership with Houston Chapter ISCEBS; and The (Over)Times They Are A-Changin': Managing the Challenges Presented by the New Federal White-Collar Exemption Regulations.
El Paso SHRM and Workforce Readiness
The El Paso Society for Human Resources Management (EPSHRM) Chapter partnered with University of Phoenix for a Career Fair on August 4, 2016. They also partnered with the University of Texas Aug. 18 to conduct mock interviews and provide assistance with resume writing to college students transitioning into the workforce. EPSHRM is also partnering with Region 19 and Socorro Independent School District to get students trained and certified in Microsoft Office. Ongoing community partnerships continue with the Center for Family Violence and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Thank you to Director of Workforce Readiness Joe Pina for all this hard work!
Red River Valley HRA
Red River Valley HRA holds Annual Conference
The Paris area chapter hosted its annual conference on Wednesday, August 3 in Commerce. During the half-day event, door prizes were awarded and a basket was raffled off. The funds from the raffle will be donated to the SHRM Foundation.
Three fabulous speakers were scheduled who discussed pertinent HR topics with lots of enthusiasm. There were also three wonderful sponsors who helped with the event.
