Did you know there is a membership recruitment and retention toolkit under the Volunteer Resources section of SHRM’s website?

It is a 34-page document that is full of helpful information including templates for letters. According to at-large SHRM members, the top 5 reasons "HR PROFESSIONALS DON’T JOIN CHAPTERS" because...

1. I didn’t know there was a local chapter.

2. No one invited me to join.

3. The chapter’s bylaws prohibit me from becoming a member, even though I am a SHRM member.

4. I attended a chapter meeting and did not feel welcomed.

5. No one responded to my email/phone calls for membership information.

Share this with your membership committee and come up with an action item for at least 3 of the 5. It’s time to market your chapter in your community!

It’s time to ask these at-large members to join! You can get a mailing list of these at-large members. If your chapter needs help, please contact Jennifer Rower at 210-638-5012 or jrower@woodcharter.com
