Hiring is ramping up in many areas across the country, but especially here is Texas. Texas CEO Magazine reports CEO’s in the state expect an increase in revenue this year (77%), expect an increase in profits (60%), and plan to hire in the next 12 months (65%). These results were based on a study by Vistage International in the fourth quarter of 2011.
This hiring trend has resulted in a sharp increase in the number of companies adding to their internal recruiting teams, says Diana Meisenhelter, President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Staffing Management Association, a SHRM special interest chapter.
"Good recruiters are in high demand," says Meisenhelter, "and companies need to make sure they keep their talent acquisition teams staffed and well trained. In many areas – healthcare, IT, energy – finding staff for critical openings is as hard as it has ever been. Even though unemployment is still elevated, the skills of the available workforce don’t always match the needs companies have."
The DFW SMA is offering a variety of luncheons and other events in 2012 designed to keep talent acquisition professionals educated and well networked. Among the programs slated for 2012 is a joint fall program with the DFW Texas Recruiters Network designed to recognize the top recruiting team in Dallas/Fort Worth. |
