"Translating Business Strategy Into Total Rewards" *MOST Registration 2:00 pm-2:15 pm

This strategic presentation will examine key elements that define an effective HR leader, explore principles of leadership, discuss critical elements of how HR leaders can develop a high performance leadership team and provide a roadmap of how HR leadership can lead the way to develop / execute strategic initiatives and business strategy for their organization. By attending this presentation, participants will be provided an educational roadmap and demonstrated understanding of key essentials to become an effective HR and business strategist.

Participant Learning Objectives:

Bob Cartwright, (SPHR / SHRM-SCP), is President and CEO of Intelligent Compensation, LLC, a compensation and performance management consulting firm located in the Austin, Texas area. Mr. Cartwright has 30+ years of diversified experience in compensation & total rewards, HR management & strategic/business planning. He works with for-profit companies covering a spectrum of industries and nonprofit organizations across the country including business associations, charities, foundations, trade / membership associations and credit unions. Bob speaks throughout the U.S. and is often quoted as a business/compensation expert in print media around the country. Mr. Cartwright's current professional affiliations include; Board Member + At-Large District Director-Texas SHRM State Council; Board Officer + Chair of the Governance Committee for Texas Association of Business; National Volunteer Leader for SHRM on Veteran employment and community engagement issues. Mr. Cartwright received a BA from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas and continued with post-graduate work in business management.

"Building Appreciation for Incentive Plans" *General Meeting Registration 3:30pm-3:45pm

Incentive plans both short-term and long-term require a lot of time to build and costs a lot to fund; but yet the employee does not always understand the objective or appreciate the award. We will review the fundamentals of incentive plans, how they align with the company strategy and pitfalls in how well designed incentive plans fail. Recommendations on what is a well-designed incentive plan includes a detailed communication strategy as well as a sound administration process will be discussed.

Participant Learning Objectives:
Lane Transou CCP, GRP, SPHR, is a Compensation & Benefits consultant with over 20 years of experience as a practitioner in a variety of industries including oil & gas, manufacturing and finance. Her focus is helping clients align a total reward programs with organizations strategic goals. Her experience as a practitioner allows an insight into ways to overcome challenges faced while implementing these programs. Lane is an active member of SHRM Texas State Council & SHRM having served in a variety of roles including National Total Rewards Panel.
