At the SHRM Volunteer Leader’s Summit, Texas was very well represented with over 55 dedicated Chapter and State leaders and administrators in attendance. We learned about driving membership, developing programming that met the needs of our Chapter members, effective marketing techniques and significant process efficiencies SHRM will be implementing in 2016 around SHAPE and other requirements. Some other highlights:
- Two TX SHRM Chapters, El Paso and San Antonio, and the Texas State Council itself were finalists in the prestigious and highly scrutinized Pinnacle Awards, and all three were winners.
- Our own Jennifer Swisher, Director of Membership, was a featured panelist in two best practices sessions.
- Texas has the highest number of SHRM-CP/SCP’s in the nation!
- Several of our members lobbied on Capital Hill, visiting with the offices of Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn as well as multiple Congressmen from their respective districts.
To say Texas SHRM made an impact at the 2 and a half day meeting is an understatement, and I am so proud of our incredible volunteers; SHRM listens to Texas!
Cheers, Mike
