2022 Annual Conference Save The Date

Happy New Year TAGITM’ers! The onset of the new year means a fresh start after a nice break from the office, picking up where you left off before the holiday down time, and that the TAGITM conference is right around the corner. If you’re thinking you’d like to join the festivities this year, and I very much hope that you do, mark your calendars for the week of April 26 – 29, 2022.

Most everyone reading this knows how TAGITM rolls. Work hard, play hard. Knowledge and networking. I’ve been working in IT for 26 years now and it is by far the best conference I have ever had the privilege to attend. Now, I know what you all are thinking. There’s no way ole’ El Jefe Shane has been working in IT for 26 years…he doesn’t look a day over 35! It’s true though, my time served and the fact that TAGITM rocks. Bottom line is this organization is awesome because the people make it awesome. It’s the reason I wanted to get involved with the committees in the first place. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of this? We’re the cool kids on the block!

On to this year’s conference. We’re circling back to Moody’s in Galveston. The conference committee has a theme picked out, and we’re close to having the graphics ready to rock and roll. I, for one, am grateful to have so many creative minds on the Conference Committee. When we reconvened early in January to deliberate on the conference graphics, the ideas were flying. They always do. We were able to come to a consensus on the desired end goal, and our favorite CMP’er Lindy is in the process of working out the kinks with the graphics guru. Special shout-out to the Conference Committee for their time and ideas. Yet another reason why this org is great!

So here we are. It’s all coming together. The Education Committee met in early February to finalize the conference agenda. Jennifer and the education squad have packed so many intriguing sessions into the agenda that I’ll be forced to make some tough decisions on which to attend. It’s the same dilemma every year. Shame on you, Jennifer! In all seriousness, there is some great stuff on the agenda. The keynotes are wrapped up, and things are looking good to make the 2022 event a success.

We’re bringing back some of the favorites, and we’re going to try some new things out, too. If you like game night, then you’re in luck. It’ll be making a return in 2022. It’s wildly popular and I personally am a fan of if it ain’t broke, no need to fix it! We’re tweaking orientation to break out new attendees and vendors. New attendees will be assigned a board member to help acclimate them to the event. Whoever the lucky souls assigned to me are, let me be the first to say “winner-winner, chicken dinner!”

So there you go, folks, we’re doing this! Mr. President has been asking me for months if we were going to beat last year’s attendance. I always say yes. Why wouldn’t we, right…? I say let’s all meet up by the coast and make it so! Everyone stay safe and healthy, and I hope to see everyone in Galveston this April!
