TAGITM Wins the Gold

This year's TAGITM conference theme was "In it to Win IT."  I may be a biased judge, but TAGITM took home the gold this year.  The crowd, keynote speakers, sessions, team building, awards, and nighttime entertainment were all first-place winners.  The awarding of two Beth Ann Unger Women in I.T. Scholarships was the MVP.

This year, attendees got an even bigger bang for their buck than in the past.  The conference had two additional tracks, a third keynote, and a Wednesday night activity.  A GIS Mappy Hour and a Women in I.T. Social were also added.  I need an energy drink just from saying all that.  I must give kudos to TAGITM members.  Y'all really stepped up this year and made the conference ours."  This year, almost every one of the 30 break-out sessions was presented by a TAGITM Agency (non-vendor) member or a partnership between an Agency and a vendor.  Y'all "Made It Happen" this year.

I am saddened that this will be my last article as Chair and Education Committee member.  My eight years of service on the Education Committee has been a blast.  All the other committees are excellent places to serve and provide a great service to the TAGITM community, but as I said, I am a biased judge, and the award for the best committee to serve on is the Education Committee.

James O'Brien has passed the baton of Secretary/Treasurer on to me, and I have passed the Chair of the Education Committee baton on to Angela Wright, recipient of the Rising Star Award and Chief Technology Officer for the City of Beaumont.  Angela has served on the committee since 2022 and was on the first-place team for the team building exercise, so I know she will lead the Education Committee well.

During this upcoming year, I will be cheering on Angela, the Education Committee, and all the members of the other committees.  I encourage you to get into the game and join a committee.  I want to cheer for you too.  Together, we make TAGITM happen, and we take home the gold.

Go TAGITM!
