TAGITM relies on members who volunteer their time and talents to make our organization the authoritative voice for Texas Government Technology. This year, we welcome Fay Young and James O’Brien. Both were kind enough to share their thoughts and visions for their committees.
The Board encourages all members to volunteer and be a part of the making TAGITM the premier organization in Texas for all things Governmental IT!
Fay Young – City of Port Arthur – Education Committee Chair:
How long have you been a member of TAGITM?
I became aware of TAGITM and the listserve in 2009. The 2013 conference in South Padre Island was the first conference I attended.
What motivated you to become a Committee Chair?
After attending the first conference, I knew I wanted to participate in the organization actively. Throughout my career, I've been involved in education, so in 2016 when the opportunity to join the education committee came, I knew that was the area I wanted to serve in. I've enjoyed being a committee member. Now it's time to take the next step and try being the chair.
What do you hope to accomplish in your new position?
As Committee Chair, I hope to continue the history of providing quality education to the members of TAGITM. We can never have too much education. I want to help the committee continue providing education relative to the diverse needs of TAGITM members.
James O’Brien – City of Friendswood – Cyber Security Chair:
How long have you been a member of TAGITM?
I have been a member of TAGITM since 2016.
What motivated you to become a Committee Chair?
I hope my leadership will progress the committee to exceed the expectations the members have for the group. I have found the TAGITM organization to be an outstanding resource to myself, and I want to have a part of giving back to it.
What do you hope to accomplish in your new position?
I look forward to making the cybersecurity committee a resource that all TAGITM members can rely on for up-to-date cybersecurity news and alerts. I want the committee to be showcased as community of professionals available to assist members with various cybersecurity needs.
