What's It Like Traveling I-35? TxDOT Wants to Hear From You!
From our Partners in Quality at TTI and TxDOT; the original article and survey can be found by clicking here
This survey is being conducted by the Texas A&M Transportation
Institute on behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation. You must
be at least 18 to participate. All responses are anonymous.
This survey is intended to reach the travelers of I-35. We’re seeking
to find out who travels the corridor, what information they want, when
they want it and where they’d like to find it. We need this information
for all types of travelers on I-35: from daily commuters, to the
trucking industry, to local businesses and private citizens. We want
to hear from people who travel the corridor for business, for pleasure,
to visit relatives, take in a football game or any other purpose.
We invite you to answer the survey and come back and do this
again every 6 months or so over the next several years. The questions
will change slightly as the expansion project progresses and your
responses will help us do a better job of getting you the information
you need for your trip, when you need it, and where you need it.
Background and Purpose of the Study:
I-35 is one of the most diverse travel corridors in Texas with upwards of 100,000 vehicles daily travelling between Dallas and Laredo. In late 2011, construction began to expand the 100-mile central section of I-35 (from the Williamson County Line to Hillsboro) from 2 lanes to 3 lanes, in each direction.
The design process for the I-35 expansion included input from citizen planners to help guide the design and construction. However, we still need the help of you, the traveling public, to ensure that as we go through construction, we provide the travel information you need to plan and take your trips, to minimize the impact construction has on you.
