Insurers and academics berated pharmaceutical companies for jacking up drug prices. A professor of health policy at George Mason University said the root of the problem is, "By construction, we made monopolies for the purpose of encouraging innovation," alluding to patents on innovator drugs. "Maybe you want to think about changing the rules, so that the rules serve market forces better."

Medicare has proposed a new pricing plan for drugs administered in physician offices and hospital outpatient departments. The Medicare Part B program now pays providers the average sales price (ASP) of the drug, plus an extra 6% to cover handling and administration. Under the proposed reimbursement model, Medicare Part B would pay the ASP, an add-on of only 2.5%, and a flat fee of $16.80 per drug per day, regardless of its price.

When a licensed DC changes his or her address, the law requires that the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners (TBCE) be notified. The TBCE has simplified this into a three-step process. Failure to timely notify the TBCE is a frequent disciplinary action resulting in hundreds of dollars of fines.

The Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners accepts PACE recognition as satisfying the requirements of the Board for purposes of the licensure renewal process. PACE is an acronym for Providers of Approved Continuing Education and is a program of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB). Chiropractic physicians joined the American Public Health Association (APHA) to observe National Public Health Week. ACA joined more than 1,400 Twitter participants in a dynamic Twitter chat. APHA has offered a section devoted to chiropractic and its role in public health since 1995, and ACA has a Public Health Care Committee that serves as a liaison between the association and APHA.

Low back pain is highly prevalent and one of the most common causes of disability in U.S. armed forces personnel. Currently, no single therapeutic method has been established as a gold standard treatment for this increasingly prevalent condition. One commonly used treatment, which has demonstrated consistent positive outcomes in terms of pain and function within a civilian population is spinal manipulative therapy provided by doctors of chiropractic.

Martina Andrea Isdale, 56, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016, after fighting a brave battle against cancer. She is survived by her husband Dr. Shawn Isdale and their children: Sagen, Sterling, Sommer, Skylar and Spane. She was at her Harker Heights home with her family by her side.
