Certifications I'm looking forward to taking my CHFM How has TAHFM/ASHE contributed to your career? It has been extremely helpful to get to know a network of experts that are always on the ready to support you. I enjoy participating in the Young Professional and Marketing & Communication Committees for TAHFM. The resources available are also something to look at in helping me grow.
Background into the field of healthcare facilities I started working for Environmental Health & Safety, where I directly supported facility managers in meeting regulatory compliance. I was hand-picked as a candidate to fill the current role and graciously accepted in the midst of 2020, knowing that I was stepping into a role that was overcoming new challenges never seen in healthcare before. It was a call to action for me, and I don't regret it for a second.
Personal Tidbit I spend my weekends bird-watching, gardening and/or making trips to the beach. It's a good weekend if I hit all 3. What do you enjoy most about your job? I really enjoy the figure it out mentality in troubleshooting different scenarios. It keeps everything a surprise and keeps it from being mundane. What are your plans for future growth? I want to bring diversity to facilities management. There is a lot of passion and knowledge that needs to be shared. I have high hopes in closing in the gaps to move healthcare facilities management forward.
