2018 Annual Meeting

By Cathy Pierce, Planning Chair

The TMRA Annual Meeting; it’s where you go to renew old acquaintances and make new ones. After a couple of up-and-down years in attendance, we were expecting the same for 2018, but our members did not disappoint us. We had a total of 223 members, spouses, guests and speakers attend to help make 2018 another successful meeting. How did we accomplish this?

By catching the biggest fish (thank you, Eddie Bearden, HDR) to making a double eagle (thank you, Mark Verdova, Joy Global), we made memories for the record-book.

By recognizing Rep. Trent Ashby and Sen. Brian Birdwell for their legislative support to enjoying the legislative panel of Mance Zachary, Vistra Energy, Ty Embrey, Lloyd Gosselink, Matt Hallmark, Trinity Construction Materials, and Mike Nasi, Jackson Walker, we learned what to expect in the upcoming Session.

By Cheryl Allison and Francye Hutchins bragging (rightfully so) on the Teacher Workshops.

By Paul Goranson, Energy Fuels Resources (USA) Inc. and Dr Brent Elliot, UT Austin, discussing the latest in uranium and industrial minerals.

By the Honorable Joe Balash, Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management, US Department of the Interior, attending and participating with TMRA and the RCT in a roundtable discussion.

Couple these outstanding speakers with a record total of $53,950 in sponsorships, how else would we NOT have a successful meeting? What better way to end our stay at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort and Spa! After nine years (with a break to San Antonio in 2012), we will have our 2019 TMRA Annual Meeting at the historic Hotel Galvez in Galveston. October 20-22, 2019. We are already in the planning stages for the next meeting. Add it to your calendar now as we want you to be a part of 2019 meeting!
