Get Social and Help Us Share the Good News about Mining

TMRA’s job is to enhance the images of its member industries, which includes helping educate and promote its story to target audiences.

One of the ways TMRA does this is through social media. We have two Facebook accounts (TMRA and TMRA Teacher Workshops) and a Twitter account. To be even more effective, we need your help! By sharing the news in this newsletter and about the industry on your own or your organization’s social channels, you help share the positive message of U.S. and Texas mining. This is good for TMRA, as well as your own company or organization.

Social media is a powerful tool, consider these facts:

(Nearly) Everyone is on Facebook
• Worldwide, there are more than 2.41 billion monthly active Facebook users, which is an 8 percent increase year-over-year;
• 1.59 billion people on average log onto Facebook daily and are considered daily active users;
• On average, the Like and Share buttons are viewed across almost 10 million websites daily;
• Five new profiles are created every second;
• Every 60 seconds on Facebook: 510,000 comments are posted, 293,000 statuses are updated and 136,000 photos are uploaded;
• 4.75 billion pieces of content are shared daily; and
• About two-thirds of American adults (68 percent) say they at least occasionally get news on social media.

Twitter is the place to influence millennials and government leaders
• There are 326 million active monthly Twitter users;
• 500 million tweets are sent every day;
• That’s 5,787 tweets every second;
• 80 percent of Twitter users are affluent millennials;
• 71 percent of Twitter users are reading news there;
• Twitter is the number one platform for government leaders; and
• People are 31 percent more likely to recall what they saw on Twitter.

So please help us share the positive, timely and relevant news about mining. You can do this by posting the news in this newsletter or posting your own news about the industry and the news and information on TMRA’s social channels to your own channels. It’s good news for all of us!
