By Cheryl Ann Allison
TMRA Education Director
Please join us in welcoming our newest Education Director: Cheryl Allison. Cheryl joined TMRA in February 2019 as an intern working directly with Education Director, Francye Hutchins. Cheryl officially became TMRA’s new Education Director in January 2020. She served as an 8th grade science teacher for 26 years and was also a Secondary Science Consultant for Region 8 Education Service Center, Pittsburg, TX, for seven years. Cheryl attended TMRA camps as a classroom teacher. She found the information and classroom activities to be extremely useful for building personal content knowledge and the activities engaging for students.
Summer of 2020 will be an exciting summer. TMRA will offer six teacher camps through the generous support of TMRA members and the Sponsor a Teacher program. Four camps will focus on Coal through a partnership with Sabine, Walnut Creek, Kosse, and San Miguel.TMRA will also offer one Industrial Minerals camp in the Round Rock area and one Uranium camp at Alta Mesa. Applications for the camps have exceeded our expectations and most camps have reached capacity.
