A Study on the Relationship Between EHR’s and Malpractice Claims

There was a significant increase in malpractice claims related to EHRs between 2011 and 2016. A recent research study compares 66 claims and how EHRs played a major role. While some factors were increasing and others decreasing, the study analyzes the technology and design issues, lack of integration, lack of alerts, copy-and-paste errors, data entry errors, and alert fatigue.
