Highlighted General Session Panel Discussions included: “The New Essentials Standards” (AACN) moderated by Dr. Linda Plank, “Mental Health: Care for the Caregiver and the Patient” moderated by Dr. Debra Logan, and “Role of the DNP Leader” moderated by Dr. Jamie Sue Waugh. TONL Talks included presentations by Dr. Tabitha South “Addressing Nurse Leader Compassion Fatigue,” Dr. Irene Salinas “Enhancing Leadership Through a Clinical Coach Model,” and Paul Buckle, “The Intersection of Medicine and Psychiatric Nursing: Designing a Blended Unit.” Wrapping up the conference, Randy Chunn closed the conference with an inspirational presentation on “Influential Leadership.” Pre-Conference: Prior to the 2023 TONL Annual Conference, Dr. Renee Thompson, CEO, and Founder, Healthy Workforce Institute presented “8 Attributes of a Healthy Work Culture” in an informative and illuminating work shop session. In collaboration with Indiana Organization for Nursing Leadership (IONL), Cynthia Bowers, DNP, RN, CNE is conducting a national research study to assess what attributes nurse leaders desire in new graduate nurses’ readiness to practice. If your nursing leadership title is that of Manager/Supervisor, Director, or Chief Nurse Executive/Vice President, and you have direct unit, department, facility, or system responsibility for nursing staff who provide direct patient care, then your participation is greatly appreciated.
