TIA honored two long-time members for their exceptional contributions to the logistics industry and the Association during the 2018 TIA Capital Ideas Conference and Exhibition.

The Heritage Award was presented to Gilles Roch, President, G. Roch Consultant, Ltd. Established in 1997, the Heritage Award honors exceptional industry leaders for their service, leadership and long-standing support of TIA, its members, and the entire third-party logistics industry. Over his many decades of involvement with TIA, Mr. Roch has been a key contributor to TIA and has held several leadership roles within the Association, including serving on the TIA Services Board and the TIA Executive Committee. Most recently, he completed a three-year term as an At-Large Member of the Board of Directors.

TIA President and CEO Robert Voltmann said, "Gilles has been one of the most active members of TIA for decades, and is a trusted friend and colleague of TIA and its members. His contributions are numerous, and it is impossible to quantify the value he brings to the Association. He has always been willing to contribute his time, knowledge, and resources, enabling TIA to continue its mission of being the voice of the 3PL industry.”

Also, TIA presented the 3PL Samaritan Award to Choptank Transport, Inc. The 3PL Samaritan Award recognizes a TIA member for exceptional service and assistance to others in need.

Geoff Turner, Choptank Transport President and CEO, accepted the award on behalf of his company and employees. Choptank Transport has been involved with numerous charitable causes over the years. The company has established scholarships for students attending the University of Maryland and Salisbury University. It has also raised money for the March of Dimes, the Red Cross, and for various charitable causes. Additionally, Choptank Transport’s employees have volunteered their time and raised money for the Salvation Army, local schools, and many other community organizations.

"Whether it’s establishing scholarships for college students, raising money for hurricane relief, or mentoring youth through Junior Achievement, Choptank and its employees exemplify taking an active role in community involvement. Helping others and giving back is part of Choptank’s company culture, and I am proud that they are members of TIA,” said Voltmann.

As recipients of the Samaritan Award, Choptank Transport designated Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks, as its charity of choice to receive the funds raised by the annual TIA Foundation Charity Fun Run at the 2018 TIA Conference & Exhibition.
