Estes Express Lines is making a multi-million-dollar investment in its most valuable asset—its employees—through the implementation of The Estes Care Package.The program consists of four different employee-focused programs that are being implemented 2018. The program includes employee bonuses, expansion of Estes’ existing scholarship fund, an employee assistance fund, and enabling employees to make direct donations to charitable organizations. Tailwind Transportation Software has announced the launch of its new fully web-based Enterprise Transportation Management Software (TMS). The fully cloud-based (no hosting or servers required) TMS has been built specifically to serve rapidly growing small and mid-sized logistics companies. On March 3, 2018, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced additional steps to address the unique needs of the country’s agriculture industries and provided further guidance to assist in the effective implementation of the congressionally mandated electronic logging device (ELD) rule without impeding commerce or safety.
U.S. Reps. Peter King (R-NY), Sanford Bishop (D-GA) and Hank Johnson (D-GA) are leading the charge on a technical change in the bankruptcy laws to provide relief for customs brokers who have paid duties to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on behalf of importers who subsequently file for bankruptcy.
