Noël Perry, Truckstop.com’s Chief Economist, has launched a new website, Transport Futures. The site will serve as Perry’s platform to share industry insights about the wide variety of transport issues. On Friday, April 27, 2018, the U.S. House of Representatives approved an amendment to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act that would create a National Hiring Standard for motor carriers. The amendment was sponsored by TIA and offered by U.S. Reps. Jimmy Duncan (R-TN) and Jason Lewis (R-MN). The final vote was 212 to 191. Last week, David Wangler, President of TMW Systems and Trimble’s transportation software division, passed away. He was 56. TIA President and CEO Robert Voltmann said, “TIA extends its deepest sympathies to the Wangler family and TMW on the passing of Dave Wangler. Dave was a good friend to TIA and the 3PL industry. He was an innovative leader who will be missed.” Please take a few minutes to review the list of TIA Member Candidates for the month of May.
