Last week, at the G20 Summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina, President Trump signed a new tripartite trade agreement with Mexico and Canada. The agreement, which is referred to as the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement or USMCA, will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Since its implementation over two decades ago, NAFTA helped to strengthen the economic ties binding the three trade partners. Trade increased more rapidly between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada since NAFTA’s signing than between the signatories and any other nation, leading to more than $1 trillion in trade each year.

Once upon a time, Black Friday marked the end of the retail freight season. Those days are gone. E-commerce has disrupted that traditional freight schedule. While brick-and-mortar stores still need to stock shelves before Black Friday, the online activity that fuels a larger and larger portion of truckload demand every year will continue right up until Christmas and even into the first week or two of January, when people are cashing in their gift cards or exchanging unwanted items. The brick-and-mortar stores restock more aggressively in December and January than they did in the past, to compete with e-commerce vendors.

TIA’s Mentorship Program has been so successful that we’ve run out of mentors. We’re looking for experienced and successful brokers with some spare time each month that are willing to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of brokers.
TIA's Mentorship Program will match you with a mentee in a structured program designed around the mentee’s goals. You and your mentee will meet monthly by phone, Skype, or email over a period of six months. To learn more about the program, click here to read a recent 3PL Perspectives article.
Interested? Contact Cindy Amos, TIA VP of Meetings, at amos@tianet.org.
