If you have news you would like to share with other TIA members, send it to us, and we'll place it in the next issue of Logistics Weekly. Meetings
The legal and regulatory red tape for 3PLs big and small can seem daunting, it’s critical that you have the knowledge to protect yourself and your business. To keep you at the top of your game, we’ve designed a five-session Legal Track covering a range of topics, including trade tariffs, covenants, claims, and more that will be moderated by some of the best legal minds in the 3PL industry. Join us on Thursday, April 11 at 4:00 p.m. as The Honorable Raymond P. Martinez, FMCSA Administrator, provides a comprehensive overview of the latest regulatory environment within the Department of Transportation. Martinez will cover potential changes to motor carriers’ hours-of-service, CSA reform, broker financial responsibility requirements and other rules and regulations of interest to the third-party logistics and transportation industries.
“There are many things I could say about the TIA Conference: great venue, great meals, great breakout sessions, great golf course and so on. However, the real value in my opinion, and with some 35 years of attendance, is the opportunity to face to face meet with and communicate with your peers. We all have challenges to deal with, so why re-invent the wheel? I have learned more about our segment of the transportation industry at this conference than any other on event anywhere.” -Jim Syfan, CTB

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee met on Feb. 7, 2019 to discuss the current state of U.S. infrastructure, involving roads, bridges, waterways, transit systems and airports. This was the first hearing of the committee for the 116th Congress, and opening remarks from Chairman Pete DeFazio (D-OR) commended the new members of the Committee. He highlighted how historically the Committee has been truly bipartisan, with members on both sides of the aisle working towards a common goal to address our nation’s infrastructure needs.
