In this episode of Fire Law Roundup, Brad and Curt discuss the case of a San Francisco firefighter who was viciously assaulted by a colleague prompting criminal charges, discipline and a civil suit, and a lawsuit filed by an Oregon lieutenant who claims he was forced to resign in retaliation for reporting inaccuracies in information related to the SAFER grant program.
HONORING OUR CRAFT
Taking place each year during the third full week of June, Safety Stand Down highlights critical safety, health, and survival issues for fire and emergency services personnel. Departments are asked to suspend all non-emergency activities during the week to focus their attention on safety and health education efforts. A week is provided to ensure that all duty shifts can participate. This years' theme focuses on the important role training plays in a department’s success and building the right foundation for a department-specific training program. Each day will cover a different topic within the theme, including back to the basics, assessing department and community needs, safety during training, health considerations, and the 12 foundations of fire department training.
This annual award recognizes individuals from the fire service with outstanding commitment and contributions to the Texas Fire Service. Nominations can be submitted to the website at https://txhallofhonor.org/ Any issues or help you need from us, feel free to email txhallofhonor@teex.tamu.edu.
