The Texas Fire Chiefs Workshop is a comprehensive networking opportunity for current Fire Chiefs (Head of Department). Earn the Additional 20 Hours Required by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection with your peers in one event! This high-energy program will address the hottest issues and challenges facing company officers in today’s Fire Service. This program addresses MANY topics such as Communication, Trust, Ethics, Diversity, Generational challenges, CISM, Accountability, and Social Media to name just a few. Inspired by the Texas Fire Chief’s Annual Workshop, this gathering is designed specifically for the Second in Command. The National Fire Academy (NFA) provides free, specialized training courses and advanced management programs for middle- and top-level fire officers, fire service instructors, technical professionals, and representatives from allied professions. Apply by Dec. 15. for on-campus courses scheduled from April to September 2023.
Pflugerville will be hosting the next Quality Improvement Through Accreditation class on April 4-6, 2023. This course features three full days of instruction to help agencies prepare for accreditation under the 10th edition of the CFAI model. This is a pre-requisite for accreditation managers and peer assessors. A consortium meeting will likely be hosted the day before. Click the link below to register.

Drexel University’s Center for Firefighter Injury Research and Safety Trends (FIRST) Stress and Violence in Fire-Based EMS Responders (SAVER) program has released a set of policies to protect responders from workplace stress and violence. The policies are designed to shift much of the health and safety responsibility from the individual first responder to the organization by focusing on training, policy, and environmental modifications. Fort Worth’s newest fire station officially opened last week. The addition of Station 45, 1901 Quail Grove Drive in far north Fort Worth, will improve response time for emergency personnel across north Fort Worth, which has seen substantial population growth over the last 10 years. Texas homeowners have some of the highest property tax bills in the nation. If a historic property tax break for Texans is to become a reality in the 2023 legislative session, the Legislature might have to break the state’s constitutional spending limit for the next two years. TML NEWS

This coming March, FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) will host its 8th Annual Tribal Nations Training Week. The annual event is the largest tribal training event in the Department of Homeland Security. As part of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC), Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service’s National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center (TEEX/NERRTC) offers yearly courses at Tribal Training Week. At the 2023 event, TEEX/NERRTC will provide four courses, including Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents, Understanding Targeted Cyber Attacks, Emergency Operations Center Management and Operations, and Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment and Stakeholder Preparedness.
Instructor II Course The NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor II course is designed to meet the needs of entry-level fire and emergency service instructors by meeting or exceeding the job performance requirements in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1041, Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications, Chapter 5 “Fire Instructor II. Dates and Locations: Fire Officer I The NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I course is designed for the first-line company officer/supervisor and satisfies the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1021 Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications, Chapter 4 “Fire Officer I.” It is designed around classroom lectures and group exercises to improve your abilities to manage a single fire company. This includes responsibilities such as the development of an Incident Action Plan (IAP), personnel management and mentoring, and community relations. Dates and Locations: Fire Officer II The NFPA 1021 Fire Officer II course is designed to meet the needs of the mid-level officer/supervisor and satisfies the requirements of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications, Chapter 5 “Fire Officer II.” It is designed around classroom lectures and group interactive exercises to improve your abilities to manage multiple fire companies, including responsibilities such as strategic planning and operations, personnel development, and organizational communications. Dates and Locations: Fire Officer III The NFPA 1021 Fire Officer III course is designed to meet the needs of fire executive management and satisfies the requirements of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications, Chapter 6 “Fire Officer III.” It is designed around classroom lectures and group interactive exercises to improve your abilities to manage a fire service organization, with an emphasis on community/government relations, as well as model planning, budgeting, human resources, trends and support organizations, and emergency service delivery.
