The IAFC and its Wildland Fire Policy Committee have launched a new interactive web-based geospatial Wildfire Evacuation Planning Toolkit that allows users to assess their current capabilities, view evacuation resources, and explore their community within a map-based application to create evacuation zones. In this episode of Fire Law Roundup, hosts Brad and Curt discuss a case involving a FDNY EMT who was caught stealing from a patient in an undercover sting operation; a Michigan firefighter’s third lawsuit against the department alleging a violation of his First Amendment Rights (among other things); a cheating scandal involving the Cobb County Fire Department resulting in seven members being disciplined; a ruling by the US District Court for the District of Nebraska concluding the Lincoln firefighter/EMT Amber Benson raised sufficient questions of fact to get her sexual harassment and retaliation claims to a jury; and a ruling by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals that EMS personnel who mistakenly pronounced a disabled woman dead cannot be held liable for her subsequent death under a civil rights theory, despite the fact their error delayed life-saving treatment.
