Medical Gas Certification

This course is a pre-requisite for testing by TSBPE. Inspector applicants may take this course for 100 hours credit towards their requirements for testing by TSBPE.

Designed for individuals interested in properly installing medical gas systems to the 2015 Health Care Facilities Code requirements. Students will learn the requirements for the installation of medical gas & Vacuum systems in health care facilities as well as dental offices. Students are required to successfully perform a vertical and horizontal braze on 1 1/2" copper pipe.

Review of basic operating procedures, performance, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and the 2015 Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems requirements of the following: Medical gas headers, manifolds, bulk systems, medical air compressors, instrument air, medical-surgical vacuum, waste anesthesia gas disposal, valves, outlet/inlets and alarms. Level I, II & III medical gas distribution systems will be reviewed as well as testing procedures and proper labeling and testing tools.

Course Includes Health Care Facilities Code book and The Changes in Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems Requirements from 2005 to 2015 Editions valued at over $595.00!

Upon completion of the course, the student will schedule his/her medical gas licensing exam with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners.
