As the 85th Texas Legislative Session enters into its last 5 weeks, I stand amazed at how much gets accomplished and how much will be left by the wayside. So much to do, so little time! Over 6000 bills filed, and yet, only a select number will make it to a committee hearing, much less to the floor of the House or Senate for a vote.
Be sure and take a look at the Legislative section of this month's newsletter. I have recapped what is happening with issues in your industry. Any questions or comments? Please contact me. It is my pleasure to serve as your PHCC Texas Executive Director. alicia@phcc-tx.org

In this month's feature by Federated, we will take a look at two very important subjects:
1. The habitually "late" employee and how to handle the situation. Click HERE to read more. 2. The millennial on your team may have one of the worst driving records. Click HERE to read more.

Want to know what you can or can't do when your employee wants too much time off? In small businesses, or those that rely heavily on employees being there to get the job done, this issue can become very touchy.

The mentality of ‘We’ve always done it this way’ is being challenged from every direction. Putting fresh eyes on long-standing ways of doing things is the new norm. This year's AHR Expo held in Las Vegas hosted over 2000 exhibitors and over 60,000 attendees! Now that makes for a great show centered around the HVAC industry. Want to see what you missed?

The younger generation’s trend of avoiding talking on the phone has spread to employees and managers of all ages. It started with email and now with smartphones. Texting has replaced leaving voicemails and conversations now take place with our phone or fingers. Calling someone is rare in how we communicate in today’s workplace. But did you ever wonder what would happen if you "took back" the telephone and used it?

If You Don't Have a Plan B, You Don't Have a Plan...
Every entrepreneur has a plan, but not every entrepreneur has a backup plan. Nobody goes into business expecting their venture to hit a bump in the road, but things don’t always go the way they are supposed to. It is because of these unkind eventualities that every business owner needs an alternative strategy. This is to ensure that no matter what comes your way, your company remains open and delivering the great service your customers rely on. Longevity is after all, the aim of the game.
