As the 85th Texas Legislative Session comes to a close, I would be remiss if I did not tell you a little bit of what PHCC Texas did for our industry:
HB 2095 - Created the ability for TSBPE license holders to transfer a Master or Journeyman License number upon death or retirement. A lowering of number years needed to be held was done from 50 to 35 years. This allows for an ease in maintaining continuity, plus it allows for a "legacy" to be set for family owned and operated businesses.
HB 3049 - This bill created the ability for TSBPE to recognize up to 250 hours towards licensing for all registered apprentices who completed successfully an approved high school construction program. Those hours combined with any internship, on the job training, or extra employment with a licensed RMP, would put a graduating senior well on the road towards his/her first license!
As your Legislative "watchdog," PHCC is continually monitoring all pending legislation that could affect you and the way you do business. Whether it deals with licensing, defective plans, contracts, worker's comp insurance, or legal liability for a job performance, we have your back!
Be sure and take a look at the Legislative section of this month's newsletter. I have recapped what is happening with issues in your industry. Any questions or comments? Please contact me. It is my pleasure to serve as your PHCC Texas Executive Director. alicia@phcc-tx.org

If You Don't Have a Plan B, You Don't Have a Plan...
Every entrepreneur has a plan, but not every entrepreneur has a backup plan. Nobody goes into business expecting their venture to hit a bump in the road, but things don’t always go the way they are supposed to. It is because of these unkind eventualities that every business owner needs an alternative strategy. This is to ensure that no matter what comes your way, your company remains open and delivering the great service your customers rely on. Longevity is after all, the aim of the game.
