Effective September 1st, 2017, TSBPE rules changed to allow completion of annual continuing education requirements via correspondence course (mail), no matter where the licensee resides. This modified the previous rules which only allowed plumbers out of state or living in rural counties to complete their annual CE via correspondence.

At that time, the Texas Legislature created the Sunset process to question the need for and success of agencies carrying out the responsibilities of state government." In 2018, the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners is undergoing their review. Sunset Commission staff are currently undergoing intense review, data gathering and input seeking from stakeholders.
