With many schools and businesses closed across the country, employers and employees are not sure how to handle this new reality. It is important that employers continue to follow existing laws and keep track of new laws in motion.
Employers today are routinely confronted with employee medical issues that impact the workplace. Despite the ever-increasing focus on issues under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and their state and local counterparts, one employee medical issue that has received scant attention is mental illness.

Education
In response to the heightened guidance by the government on limiting contact, PHCC has suspended in-person classes through April 19. We are continuing to offer education through correspondence and will be updating our delivery methods to include live virtual classrooms until in-person training can be resumed. We recognize the importance of in-person instruction and look forward to rescheduling those classes as soon as possible.
The TSBPE now allows ALL plumbers to complete their annual continuing education requirement for license renewal via correspondence course (mail) regardless of where they reside!

Membership
The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors of Texas witnessed some of the most tumultuous decision making at the Texas State Capitol in 2019. At the close of the 2021, if there is no legislation passed to maintain statewide licensing of plumbing, the plumbers in Texas will lose this valuable designation in their occupations!
