Contending with physical records in the workplace can be a drain on productivity. Not only are tangible records costly to store and vulnerable to disasters, critical data is prone to being misplaced. Without seamless digital access to these important archives, the enduring efficiency of on-the-go professional contractors and employees is often clogged.
That’s where focusing on key digital transformation initiatives can help fix the issue. By converting analog, paper-based records into secure and accessible digital information, you can move away from physical record storage, gain easy access to valuable data, and establish a strategic process that prepares you for the future. Digitizing documents can also help you address security risks, compliance requirements, productivity and sustainability goals, and disaster recovery concerns.
But where to begin? Browse this brochure to learn how Canon Solutions America’s expert resources can help you unlock the data trapped in your physical records and support your business with digitizing, consulting, and logistics services. Contact Senior Account Executive Justin Young directly at 512-506-2086 or by email at jyoung@csa.canon.com.

Your business’s inventory can be an attractive target for thieves, whether items are found at jobsites, retail spaces, dealerships, warehouses, or other locations. Consider the layout of your business — the less likely a thief is to be detected, the more appealing the target. And, lack of inventory management and the ease of selling stolen items can lead to low rates of recovery. So how do you keep your inventory safe?

Question of the Month: When we revise a company policy, can we just send the updated policy to our employees, or should we also have employees sign some type of acknowledgement form? If the latter, what do we do if an employee refuses to sign the acknowledgement form?

If you’re like most business owners, you have one or more go-to employees when it comes to the day-to-day operation of your company. They have the management skills, technical know-how, experience, or customer relationships upon which you rely — you trust them to make the right decisions when you’re not available. They can be at any level or in any position, but they are people your business can’t do without. Now that you have them on your team, what would happen if you were to lose one of them due to a premature death, long-term illness or disability, or another employment opportunity?

Attorney Rick Alaniz addresses the distinctions between employees and independent contractors and the significance of these distinctions.
A worker’s classification has real world financial and other consequences for both the individual worker and the company utilizing their services. For much of the last decade, a legal and regulatory storm at the state and federal level has surrounded classification of workers as “independent contractors” or “employees.” The dramatic growth of the gig economy, especially app-based service such as Uber, Lyft, Door Dash, Instacart, etc. has contributed to the upheaval. Uber and Lyft have faced lawsuits across the country contending they misclassified their drivers as independent contractors rather than employees in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and similar, state wage and hour laws.

The PHCC Overhead & Profit Calculator, developed by PHCC Educational Foundation, was made using feedback from contractors who know just what it takes to make businesses successful and profitable. This simple tool helps business owners calculate their real costs and find the right selling price for their company.
Too many contractors set their prices by guessing the price customers will pay or by comparing their pricing to those of their competitors. By not recovering their own true costs, these contractors are essentially working hard every day while putting themselves out of business.
