Online reviews are a blessing and a curse. When they're glowing, a single review can boost business and improve morale. A bad review can be hurtful and drive away customers. You can't always trust what you read on the internet and that goes double for online reviews. 

We have an employee who was hurt on the job at their other part time job. The employee is asking about FMLA and I'm not sure if that is something that applies here. Please let me know if they run concurrently.

Before a Plumbing Inspector, Journeyman or Master Plumber may qualify to take the Multipurpose Residential Fire Protection Sprinkler System Inspector examination or Multipurpose Residential Fire Protection Sprinkler Specialist endorsement examination, the applicant must complete a training program which pertains to subject matter applicable to a multipurpose dwelling fire sprinkler system, as required by the National Fire Protection Association Standard 13D.

The 40 hr. tester certification course provides the training and information necessary to become licensed to test and maintain backflow prevention assemblies. This course is approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) with the practical skills portion of the exam provided as part of the course.

Before a Plumbing Inspector, Journeyman, or Master Plumber may qualify to take the Medical Gas Piping Installation endorsement examination, the applicant must complete a training program approved by the Board which pertains to subject matter applicable to the installation of medical gas piping systems" per the (NFPA) 99 Health Care Facilities Code.

This year, the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners was up for this sunset review and faced several hurdles early, not the least of which was pressure to move the regulation of the industry under the umbrella of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. This was part of an ongoing movement to consolidate the state’s licensing in one department.

 

While streamlined government is generally embraced, in this instance such a move would take regulation of our industry out of the hands of the tradespeople who understand its intricacies and practices. While the attempt to make this change was successfully battled back, “safety net” legislation that would have extended the plumbing board — which is routine to the process — surprisingly did not pass before the end of the session. Technically, that meant the board would cease to exist in September. Action was taken, however, to prevent that from happening.
