The Compost Exchange is a Columbus-based company that collects and recycles food scraps from Columbus residents and transform them into high nutrient compost and specialty soils. Last year in Franklin County, over 160,000 tons of food scraps went to our landfill. An estimated 60,000 tons came from residents. Our mission is to recycle the majority of what we consider to be a locally created natural resource by:

  1. Educating Columbus residents about the many benefits of composting.
  2. Creating and providing services that are easy, convenient, affordable and unbeatable.
  3. Building and operating the infrastructure needed to accept the food scraps collected from the estimated 4,000 new residents who I estimate will sign up for our services by 2022.

I am looking for a special individual with the foundation and sincere passion for sustainability, a keen sense of urgency and the management/team building skills to help me expand our residential-based services throughout the Columbus region. We currently have six food scrap drop-off centers and several curbside routes currently serving over 1,000 residents. Within two years and with the right people in place, I believe that figure should increase to over 5,000.

This is definitely a "get your hands dirty” type of position requiring the chosen individual to wear many hats, to commit to a long-term view in accepting the position and to focus on helping me achieve our mission.

Compensation for this project starts with a base salary of $40,000 plus a performance-based bonus program.

If what I have described gets you excited, send me your resume. We have much to do.

Sincerely,

Ray Leard
